JJ Duke is a Sports Broadcaster and Media Relations professional based in Fairfield, Connecticut and has broadcasted more than 1,600 games in his career across a variety of professional and collegiate sports. Some of the regional and national networks that have carried his broadcasts includes SNY, NESN, ESPN Digital platforms, MiLB.com, Eleven Sports USA, along with numerous conference & university streaming networks.
Duke graduated from Rider University, based in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, in the Spring of 2013 with a degree in Digital Media Studies: Film, Television and Radio. During his undergrad days, Duke was part of the 107.7 FM The Bronc student radio station, where he rose from being an on-air host to the stations' Sports Director, eventually serving as the Student General Manager for his final three semesters. Additionally, he also was part of reviving the station's efforts of giving students opportunities to broadcast Rider University baseball and softball on the network, as that opportunity was non-existent for nearly a decade. Along with broadcasting Rider baseball and softball, he also worked with WBCB-1490 AM local community radio station in broadcasting high school sports in Mercer County (NJ) and Bucks County (PA).
Immediately out of college, Duke worked with the Bridgeport Bluefish Baseball Club, a member of the Independent Atlantic League, as an analyst on their radio broadcasts before taking over the lead Play-by-Play role in 2014, as well as serving as the teams' Community and Media Relations assistant. A year later, he made the jump to affiliated baseball as he served as the Lead Radio Broadcaster and Media Relations Director for the Hudson Valley Renegades, then the Short-Season affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Presently, you will find him broadcasting college sports as he's partnered with a number of universities in the Metro New York/Connecticut region. He's had the opportunity to work postseason tournaments during his career, including a number of championships for the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), the Big East, the Ivy League, the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), the Northeast Conference (NEC) and the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC), along with a number of Division II conference championships. Duke has also worked games in the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey Tournaments as well as NCAA Division II East Regionals in Baseball, Field Hockey, Soccer and Volleyball. During his summers, you can find him as the Voice and lead writer for Hartford City Football Club, an organization that competes in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). When not on the air, he has served as a Public Address Announcer for a number of schools and worked with the Connecticut Whale of the National Women's Hockey League for the organizations' first two seasons, including working the NWHL's inaugural game between the Whale and the New York Riveters in 2015.
In addition to his broadcast work, he has experience working in Sports Media Relations. Along with his Media Relations duties with during his time working in professional baseball, he served as the United Women's Soccer (UWS) Director of League Communications in 2018, where he handled all league-wide press releases and coordinated all media efforts during the UWS National Championship tournament. He also worked at Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) as an Associate Site Manager between 2016-2018. Additionally, he partnered with the Connecticut Fusion, a semi-pro soccer team, in the summer of 2021 and played a part in running the organization's media channels and game operations during their run to the league's national championship game.
To round off his resume, he spent time as a staff writer, podcaster and editor covering professional Women's Soccer for two outlets between 2012-2018. He started off working with Our Game Magazine, focusing on covering domestic professional soccer and the college level. In 2015, he became a regular contributor for the Women's Soccer Zone (WoSo Zone) podcast and was promoted to Co-host for the show in 2016, along with being named Deputy Editor for the WoSo Zone website in 2017.
